Skiing and Water Fall Canyon Hike Mar 2017

We rented a house in Mountain Green, (Between Huntsville and Morgan Utah) on the road to snow basin.  We have had a very wet winter with lots of snow, but this week it was very warm.  I noted the temperature on the top of the mountain was up to 48 degrees.  Jeff and his family, Diana, Sean and his family met Denise and I for a great week.  We were also able to attend the blessing of Sean and Abbi’s new baby.  We had a get together at the “cabin” after the blessing and Jamie and family and Kris’ family and boys and families and Abbi’s family were able to attend.

Big Kimshew Falls May 2016

DSC_1439

My Favorite Falls in the High Lakes Region, I call it Big Kimshew Falls.  This fall is best seen when the spring runoff is flowing high.  Unfortunately Justin was on call so could not go.  I was a bit apprehensive as it is a rough drive in the truck and required a significant hike to the edge and a steep drop. We started in the afternoon after Church and lunch.   These kids (and Shannon) hiked it very well without whining.  My legs whined, this fall is near 5500 feet elevation.   (guess).

There are a number of falls between this one and Little Kimshew Falls where the Kimshew river joins the West Branch of North Fork of the Feather River.   There are a number of significant  falls in the 12 miles of river between these two.  Professional Kayackers ride this all the time.  See Kimshew River Kayacking

Shannon slipped on Moss and into the River……Not to be deterred she removed her shoes and socks and pressed on.  Isla thought it was hilarious.DSC_1450DSC_1451

She got some excellent photos, see them at her site, MilantoMinsk  (password is turk)

She said it was much easier to walk on slippery surfaces without her shoes.
